what’s in an abortion, anyway?

struck by how depictions of abortion can shape our imaginations of what an abortion is, who has them, what the conditions are […], we’ve been facilitating ‘zine-making workshops responding to the prompt “what’s in an abortion, anyway?”.

what are the other abortion stories we can tell, that we are so desperate to hear and read?

we held two workshops with lay and expert audiences, asking them to produce a short, creative reflection on the topic.

with their permission, we showcase some of these works below as part of a public re-imagining and documenting. we are in talks with relevant libraries to archive these works as part of feminist documenting efforts.

in july 2025, we are presenting some of this work at VEM Network Workshop @ KCL.

we’re planning more workshops to reimagine abortions, in the hope it can contribute to transforming our abortion worlds.

please do get in touch if you’re interested in co-organising one with us!

With thanks to Teresa Tateou for her assistance with carefully scanning all these wonderful creative responses!
